Question:
Dear scholar, As-Salamu `alaykum. Is it permissible to do tahajjud, pray without sleeping first? Because in this summer in Germany, the `Ishaa' is at around 23.30 o'clock and the Subh/Fajr at 03:00 o'clock. Jazakum Allahu khayran!

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Tahajud usually takes place after a sleep, but it is not a condition. So long as you pray in the time of tahajjud, it is counted as so. May Allah accept your good deeds.
